BJP hopeful and Bollywood entertainer Sunny Deol is driving by in excess of 47,000 votes over his closest opponent and Congress candidate Sunil Jakhar from the Gurdaspur Lok Sabha situate in Punjab.
From the beginning of checking of votes at 8 am on Thursday, Deol has been keeping up a lead over Punjab Congress boss Jakhar.
Addressing columnists, 59-year-old Deol, who is famous for assuming devoted jobs in films like 'Fringe' and 'Gadar', said he was happy over the underlying patterns coming amid the checking of votes.
"I am feeling better and I am cheerful. Modiji is winning. I was sure that individuals of this supporters (Gurdaspur) adore me a great deal and will guarantee my triumph," Deol said.
He said in the wake of winning, he would work for the general population of Gurdaspur.
Jakhar, who is the sitting MP from Gurdaspur, had won the seat in a byelection in 2017 after the demise of BJP MP and on-screen character Vinod Khanna. Khanna had remained MP from this seat multiple times in 1998, 1999, 2004 and 2014.
