Time far from the game has made him "hungrier than any time in recent memory" says South Africa batsman Hashim Amla, preparing for his third World Cup.

"I am hungrier than any time in recent memory, there is no uncertainty about that. I have been honored to have this shirt for some time however the time off has made me need to returned more grounded. 

"This is my third (World Cup) so I recognize what it is about. I have a solid record in England and I have dependably delighted in coming here." The 36-year-old has officially highlighted in two World Cups for South Africa however New Zealand finished their keep running in both the versions - quarter-finals in 2011 and semi-finals four years prior. 

South Africa will open their battle against World No. 1 England, a side tipped to win the World Cup, and Amla trusts the longshot status will suit South Africa. 

"It is the best first game we could have requested. We have played England as of late and had some accomplishment against them, I have done well against them as well," he said. 

"This year, you don't see the equivalent huge names and that is the reason the attention isn't on us yet that has some great in it. There has not been much visit about us winning in contrast with the past yet I don't feel that had an impact by they way we performed. 

"By the day's end, we generally put forth a valiant effort and played to win. The reality there has not been a great deal of visit at this World Cup implies there is less desire yet in the group we want to progress admirably."
